PowerFlex Fault F064 — Software Overcurrent
What This Fault Means
F064 is a software-level overcurrent fault, distinct from F012 (hardware). The drive's firmware calculated that the output current exceeded 150% of the rated current for the configured time, and tripped before the hardware limit.
Common Causes
- Sustained overload condition just under hardware trip level
- Motor nameplate current parameter (P041) set lower than actual FLA
- Marginal motor cable insulation causing intermittent leakage
- Application exceeding the drive's duty cycle rating
Recommended Fix
- Compare P041 (motor rated current) with the actual motor nameplate FLA — adjust if wrong.
- Clamp-meter the output current during normal operation — if consistently >100% of drive rating, upsize the drive.
- Check if the application is cyclic — the drive may need to be rated for heavy-duty instead of normal-duty.
- Inspect motor cable insulation for marginal faults that don't trip F012 but cause elevated current.
