PowerFlex Fault F041 — Heatsink Overtemp
What This Fault Means
F041 means the drive's internal heatsink temperature exceeded the safe operating threshold. The drive shuts down to prevent thermal damage to the power electronics.
Common Causes
- Blocked or dirty cooling fan / air filter
- Ambient temperature above drive rating (typically 40°C / 104°F)
- Enclosure ventilation inadequate for heat dissipation
- Drive operating above rated current continuously
- Failed internal cooling fan
Recommended Fix
- Check and clean the drive's cooling fan and air intake. Replace the fan if it's not spinning.
- Measure ambient temperature inside the enclosure — add ventilation or A/C if above 40°C.
- Verify the motor FLA does not exceed the drive's continuous current rating.
- Allow the drive to cool, then reset. If F041 recurs immediately, the temperature sensor may be faulty.
