Siemens SINAMICS Fault F07011 — Motor Overtemperature
What This Fault Means
F07011 indicates the motor temperature calculated by the drive's I²t thermal model (or measured by a PTC/KTY sensor) exceeded the warning/trip threshold. The drive shuts down to prevent motor insulation damage.
Common Causes
- Motor operating above rated current for extended periods
- Ambient temperature above motor nameplate rating
- Blocked motor cooling fan (on TEFC motors, external fan failure)
- Incorrect motor thermal data in drive parameters (P0335, P0340)
- Motor PTC sensor wiring fault giving a false overtemp signal
Recommended Fix
- Check the motor temperature using an IR thermometer — compare to motor nameplate max temp.
- Verify the external cooling fan is running (common failure on 1LA7 motors).
- Check drive parameters P0335 (motor cooling type) and P0340 (motor thermal time constant) match the motor.
- If using a PTC/KTY sensor, measure the sensor resistance — PTC should read <1.5kΩ when cool.
- Reduce the load or duty cycle if the motor is genuinely overheating.
