PowerFlex Fault F013 — Ground Fault
What This Fault Means
F013 means the drive detected current leaking to ground on the output side. This protects personnel and equipment from insulation breakdown.
Common Causes
- Damaged motor cable insulation (especially in wet or corrosive environments)
- Motor winding insulation breakdown
- Condensation inside the motor junction box
- Output cable too long without an output reactor
Recommended Fix
- Disconnect motor cables at the drive and megger each phase to ground (expect >1 MΩ).
- If megger fails, isolate whether the fault is in the cable run or the motor by testing each separately.
- Inspect the motor junction box for moisture or contamination.
- For cable runs over 100m, install an output reactor (dV/dt filter) at the drive output.
- Repair or replace the faulted cable/motor.
