ABB ACS880 Fault 2310 — Overcurrent
What This Fault Means
Fault 2310 indicates the drive output current exceeded the hardware overcurrent limit. The drive trips immediately to protect the power semiconductors.
Common Causes
- Short circuit in motor cables
- Motor winding failure (phase-to-phase or phase-to-ground)
- Acceleration time too short for the mechanical load
- Drive undersized for the motor
- IGBT failure inside the drive
Recommended Fix
- Disconnect motor cables at the drive U2/V2/W2 terminals.
- Megger-test the motor windings phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground (expect >1 MΩ).
- If motor passes, check cable insulation for damage.
- Increase the acceleration ramp time (parameter 22.02).
- If the fault trips with no motor connected, the drive has an internal IGBT failure.
